1VTb takes action for better education
On Wednesday, April 16th, the students of 1VTb of Nicolaaslyceum will participate in a relay sponsor run for Edukans. In pairs, they will run as many laps as possible through Beatrix Park and raise as much money as they can for better education in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, and Ethiopia. In these countries, many children do go to school, but they learn very little. Due to overcrowded classes and poorly trained teachers, the quality of education is often low. Some children cannot even write their own name after four years of school. Parents often do not see the point of sending their children to school and prefer them to work on the land or in the household. However, good education is crucial to escape the vicious cycle of poverty. With your help, Edukans can train teachers and convince parents that school is important. As a result, more children will go to school and learn more.
